The Yolo Land Trust celebrated 21 years of preserving farm and open space in Yolo County at our 2009 fundraiser, "A Day in the Country." Generally, each year the event is held at a different farm or ranch in the county.
Last year's event was held on Sunday, September 13th at the Elkhorn Basin Ranch on the Sacramento River. Plans are to have the event there again this year. More than two dozen farms and ranches donated their products to chefs from local area restaurants. Guests had the opportunity to sample wines from more than 10 Yolo County wineries.
The event included the hot gypsy swing of Jazz Gitan and a silent action and local artists' creations. Last year's recipient of the Thomson-Rominger Award, which recognizes the unsung hero of land preservation was Rick Landon, retiring Agricultural Commissioner for Yolo County.
Thank you for joining us and our generous sponsors, restaurants, wineries, and farms and ranches who share our passion for protecting the lands that nurture and sustain us.
